Online Honda Auto Parts Store Highlights Lesser Known Honda Information

Industry leading online Honda auto parts store releases announcement to highlight lesser known information regarding Honda automobiles and their history

Denver, Colorado, May 31, 2010 - Discount Honda Acura Mitsubishi Parts today released an announcement highlighting the background and some lesser known information about Honda. Honda automobile owners in need of replacement parts or accessories can go online to browse and conveniently purchase parts at www.discounthondaacuramitsubishiparts.com or at www.discount-honda-auto-parts.com.

While Honda is known for its line of automobiles and other products, Honda is also reported to be the largest engine maker in the world. Numerous distinctions in this category are credited to the company. Honda made the first engine to meet the 1970 US Clean Air Act. In the 1990s when some automobile manufacturers were adding cars with more powerful engines, Honda gained notoriety for its opposition to this trend. Despite Honda’s reputation as an engine company it has never manufactured a V8 engine for passenger cars.

Honda has an active research and development program in the field of robotics. The development known as ASIMO is a robot weighing 54 kilograms and standing 130 centimeters tall. Visually the robot resembles a small astronaut wearing a backpack. The robot is capable of propelling itself forward in a manner similar to a person walking upright, and is the only human-like robot with the ability to ascend and descend stairs independently. In a continuance of Honda’s R&D program the robot has been fitted with a ‘brain machine interface’ to enable human thought to guide operation of the robot.

Honda is also active in automobile racing dating back to 1964 and the German Grand Prix. The company’s participation in racing continued in following years with the Belgian Grand Prix, Mexican Grand Prix, Italian Grand Prix, and French Grand Prix. Honda entered the CART IndyCar World Series as a works supplier in 1994. After improvements the company powered six consecutive drivers championships. Honda transferred its effort to the rival IRL IndyCar Series in 2003. Its success continued in 2004 with Honda-powered cars overwhelmingly dominating the IndyCar Series winning 14 of 16 IndyCar races, including the Indianapolis 500.
